Alex Newport has produced, engineered and mixed several releases which gained worldwide attention for being at the cutting edge of innovative rock in the new millennium, including At The Drive-In's 'In/Casino/Out', 'This Station Is Non-Operational' and 'Vaya' (Fearless), and The Mars Volta's 'Tremulant' EP (Gold Standard Labs/Universal).

Alex currently lives in New York City. He generally works out of his own analog-based recording & mixing studio, Future Shock, though he has been known to travel to the far corners of the globe to produce the right band.

Alex was introduced to the world of record producing in the early 90's when he produced, engineered and mixed albums for his own band Fudge Tunnel (Earache/Columbia) and became quickly in demand as producer/mixer, as Alex's strength is his ability to be flexible and knowledgeable with many genres of modern music.

He has worked with artists as diverse as Death Cab For Cutie (Atlantic), Frank Turner (Epitaph), The Melvins on 'Stag' (Atlantic), Knapsack (Alias), Two Gallants (Saddle Creek), and Tokyo's Polysics (Sony Japan). Recently Alex mixed new albums for Does It Offend You, Yeah? (Cooking Vinyl) and Japanese Voyeurs (Fiction), and produced the long-awaited new album from platinum Canadian artist City And Colour (Vagrant).
